Dr Alexandra Chrysagi is a Principal Counselling Psychologist at Hertfordshire NHS Community Mental Health service.
She obtained her first degree (Bachelor’s) in Psychology from the Panteio University in Athens, Greece and a Practitioner’s Doctorate in Counselling Psychology from the University of Teesside, UK.
She has further specialist training in Cognitive Behavioural therapy (CBT), Eye movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavioural therapy (DBT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and ongoing training in Schema Focused Therapy.
She has worked in the NHS since 2009 and currently works within a Community Mental Health for clients with Complex Trauma and Personality Disorders
In the past, she has worked in a variety of services both within and outside the NHS including Specialist Psychotherapy Services (tertiary care and private sector), Community Mental Health Services, and Primary Care Services where she gained experience in working with clients across all age ranges and with a variety of psychological needs.
She has considerable experience working with people with Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Personality Disorders, Anxiety, Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), Depression and Complex Grief. Her area of specialism is trauma comorbid with personality disorders having worked for over seven years with combat veterans and refugees.
She views every individual as a unique being with their own personal meaning of their experiences and circumstances. Her client-centered approach prises the therapeutic relationship and as such is regarded as a core feature of her work with her clients.
She can offer therapy in English and Greek.
